Hotel Shyampuria Palace

You can find Hotel Shyampuria Palace over on Hawa Sadak in the Bais Godam area. It’s a pretty central spot in Jaipur 302006, so things are always moving around here. Hawa Sadak gets quite a bit of traffic throughout the day and into the night. We’ve been here for a bit now, watching the buildings around us change as the city grows. It’s not actually a palace like the ones you see in the history books, despite the name we have on the sign. It’s just a regular building where we have some rooms for rent. Most people who stay with us are just looking for a place to crash for the night that isn't too far from the main parts of the city. We do our own cleaning and look after the place ourselves since it's just a small operation. The stairs can be a bit of a climb if you have heavy bags, but we try to help out when we can. Sometimes the street noise comes inside, but that’s just life in this part of town. We don’t have a big staff, so you’ll usually see the same two or three people every day. We know the tea stall around the corner pretty well and often get our morning chai there. In the evenings, it’s nice to stand by the window and look at the lights on the road. It’s a simple place to stay. We don’t go in for all the fancy decorations or complicated check-in stuff. People come in, get their key, and go to their room to rest up.
