Hanuman Maniyari Store

This store is in Kotputli Bazar on NH 8, specifically in the Paota area. Hanuman Maniyari Store is one of those places where you can find almost all the small things you need for a house. We sell bangles, bindis, ribbons, and all sorts of fancy items that women like to buy. There are also needles, thread, and buttons for sewing. The shelves are cramped and reach all the way to the ceiling. I have a long stick with a hook to get things down from the top. The bazar is always crowded with people shopping for their homes. Being on the highway means we also get people stopping while they are traveling through Kotputli. It is a colorful shop with lots of shiny things hanging from the doorway to catch the eye. I sit on a small cushion on the floor or a low chair behind the counter. My family has been doing this for a while. We know which brands of thread are strong and which ones break easily. We don't have a computer system; we just know the prices by heart and write them down on small slips of paper. In the evenings, the lights make all the glass bangles glitter. It’s a nice place to be, even if it gets a bit tight when more than three people come in at once. We just keep things organized the best we can and serve whoever walks through the door in the bazar.
