Gulab Trading Company is right in the heart of the Chandpole Anaj Mandi. Our shop is B-1/6. If you’ve ever been to Chandpole Bazar, you know how crowded it gets with all the grain sacks and the laborers carrying heavy loads. We’ve been here for a long time, dealing in various grains and seeds. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. We sit on white cushions on the floor and talk to farmers and other traders all day. The mandi is a loud place, full of auctions and trucks moving in and out constantly. It’s not a job for someone who likes peace and quiet. My family has been in this trade for generations. We don't have a marketing department or a fancy brand. We just know our grains and who to buy from. The shop is always dusty because of all the flour and seeds, but that’s just how an anaj mandi is. Sometimes the market is good, sometimes it’s very slow. We take it as it comes. We have some old ledgers that show how things used to be decades ago. Not much has changed, really. We still use the same old scales sometimes. If you come by B-1/6, you’ll probably find us drinking tea and arguing over the daily rates. It’s a busy, messy, honest life. We just try to keep our customers happy and our grain sacks full for the next season.
