Grih Laxmi Departmental Store

If you’re ever around Mansarovar, you might have walked past Grih Laxmi Departmental Store. We are at Shop No-11/65. It’s a small space, but we pack it full of everything we can think of. It started out as just a small project, but then it grew as the neighbors asked for more things. Now, it feels like there’s barely enough room to walk between the aisles sometimes. My wife and I run the place, and our son helps out after his classes are over. It’s a lot of work keeping the inventory straight, and sometimes we forget to order something and have to scramble to get it the next day. The morning starts early for us, usually around seven, getting everything ready before the first lot of people come by for their morning needs. We know most of the kids around here since they come in for snacks after school. The shop isn't fancy, just some metal racks and a counter that’s seen better days. We don't have a website or any of that. We just focus on what’s right in front of us. Some days are slow and we just listen to the radio, and other days it’s a total scramble from start to finish. It’s just a normal neighborhood store where we try to keep things simple and honest for the folks living in Mansarovar. We’ve been here a while and hope to stay.
