G.R. General Store

We are right in the middle of the crowd at No. 166 Johari Bazar. Being near the Jama Masjid means there are always people walking past our door. The bazar is a very famous place, and it’s always full of sounds and smells from the nearby food stalls and other shops. Our store is small, tucked between other older buildings. We’ve got stacks of goods reaching almost to the ceiling because space is so hard to find here. We sell general items that locals and sometimes tourists might need. It gets very hot in the summer, and the narrow lanes don't get much wind. We have an old fan that makes a clicking sound, but we’re used to it. The walls have some old calendars hanging on them. We don’t bother with fancy renovations. People come here because we are convenient and they know we’ve been here for years. Every morning we have to move some of the crates outside to make space inside, and then move them back at night. It’s a lot of lifting. We see all sorts of people every day from our counter. It’s never boring in Johari Bazar. We just keep our heads down and do the work, making sure people get their change right and their bags are packed well. This spot at No. 166 in Johari Bazar, near Jama Masjid, has been our home for a long time and we like the busy feel of it.
