Number 453 Indira Bazar is where I spend most of my waking hours. It’s a narrow shop, mostly filled with glass counters and a few chairs for people to wait. Indira Bazar is always crowded with scooters and carts, so there is a constant hum coming from the street. I have a lot of regular people who come in just to get their watches adjusted or to buy a new leather band. I keep a large collection of bands in different colors because everyone wants something specific. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I have to use a stronger lens now for the delicate work. The floor is made of old tile that has some cracks near the door. I’ve thought about fixing them, but it doesn't really matter for the work I do here. I keep a bottle of water and some snacks in a drawer under my workbench to get through the afternoon. Sometimes a customer will stay and talk for a long time while I work on their watch. I don't mind it, though it can make the day go long. I have a few old clocks that I bought at auctions years ago hanging up, but they are mostly just for decoration now. Most people use their phones to tell time, but there is still a need for a good wrist watch. I try to keep things organized, but the small parts have a way of getting mixed up if I’m not careful.
