Gopal General Store

Gopal General Store is right there in Lalsot, very close to the Government Hospital in Jawahar Ganj. Because of the location, we see a lot of people who are going through a tough time. They come in to buy bottled water, biscuits, or maybe some soap and toothpaste because they had to stay at the hospital unexpectedly. I try to keep the shelves stocked with all the basics so they don't have to go far to find what they need. The shop is quite packed with boxes and containers, so you have to be careful where you step. In the mornings, I'm busy taking delivery of milk and bread before the first rush of people arrives. It’s a very busy street, and there’s always an ambulance siren or the sound of people talking outside. My father started this store years ago, and I just took over when he got too old to stand for so many hours. We have a small wooden counter where I keep the change and a jar of candies for the kids. The ceiling is a bit low, and the paint is flaking in the corners, but it’s a sturdy old building. I stay open late because you never know when someone might need something from the store. It’s just a simple general store trying to be useful to the people in the neighborhood.
