Gauttam General Store

You can find us at 25 Ajmer Road in Jaipur. Specifically, we are in the Bhankrota area, inside Uma Colony which is part of Kamala Nehru Nagar. It’s a bit away from the main city center, so it feels a bit more relaxed here. The store is a straightforward general store. We have been sitting here on Ajmer Road for a good while. The shop is filled with all the usual stuff families need. We have racks for snacks and big containers for loose items like sugar and pulses. The dust from the road is a constant battle, so we are always cleaning the glass jars. Jaipur gets very hot in the summer, and the shop can get a bit stuffy, but we keep the doors wide open. Most of our customers are from Uma Colony or people passing through Kamala Nehru Nagar. We recognize most of the cars and bikes that pull up. There’s no fancy computer system here; we still do most things the old way with a pen and a notebook. It’s more personal that way, I think. We don't have any big promises to make. We just try to keep the staples in stock so nobody has to go too far for their groceries. It’s a quiet life running Gauttam General Store, and we are quite content with how things are in 302024. Even when the road gets busy with tourists heading towards Ajmer, we just focus on the people living right here in our colony.
