This is Dinesh Provision Store and you can find us at Jawahar Nagar Main Market, number 7. We have been a part of this market for many years, serving the families that live in the lanes around here. It is a typical grocery shop, so it is usually packed from floor to ceiling with sacks of flour, pulses, spices, and all the daily things people need for their kitchens. My father was the one who started this place, and I took over from him. It is a lot of work keeping track of everything, and the shop is often a bit messy with new crates of milk or eggs arriving in the mornings. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. Sometimes people just come in to chat for a bit while they wait for me to weigh out their sugar or lentils. The shelves are made of old wood and the floor is worn down from years of people coming and going. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It is just a simple, honest shop. During the festival seasons, it gets really crowded and we barely have room to move, but that is when it feels most alive. I open up early every day and stay until the last customer leaves in the evening. It is a tiring job, standing on my feet all day, but it is a good life and I like being part of the Jawahar Nagar community.
