Dharamveer General Store

Dharamveer General Store is out in Jai Singhpura Khor. It’s near the Jaipur G P O and the Super Bazar area. Our shop is just a basic neighborhood store where we keep all the daily essentials. We have big jars of candies on the front counter for the kids who come in after school. The shelves are packed with everything from soap bars to lentils. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get around the sacks of rice on the floor. The location is okay, but sometimes the road gets muddy when it rains, making it hard for people to park their bikes. We open up quite early, usually before the sun is fully up, to get the milk crates sorted. It’s a family-run place, so you might see my brother or my nephew helping out behind the counter. We don't have a computer system, we just use a calculator and a pen to total everything up. The ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We try to stock what the locals ask for, even if it’s something unusual. It’s a quiet life most of the time, except for the weekends when everyone is doing their big shopping. We just keep things moving and try to make sure we don't run out of the basics like salt or matches. Most people around Khor know where to find us if they need anything for their kitchen.
