Davda General Store

Our little shop is over here in the Rakdi area of Janta Nagar Sodala. It isn't a huge place, but we manage to fit a lot into these four walls. Most days start the same way with pulling up the shutters and checking what got sold out the day before. We carry the basic stuff like milk, bread, and different types of pulses. People from the apartments nearby just walk over when they realize they forgot something for dinner. It’s convenient for them. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to have whatever someone might ask for, whether it’s a light bulb or some biscuits for their tea. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We don’t really have any big signs or bright lights. Just the name and the stock we have on hand. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just leave the door wide open for the sunlight. It gets hot in the summer, but we’re used to it. Dealing with the distributors is the hardest part because they always show up at the same time and the sidewalk gets blocked with crates. We just handle things as they come. It’s quiet in the mid-mornings but gets really hectic once the sun starts to go down and everyone is heading home. We’ll probably be here until late tonight just like every other day of the week.
