Choudhary Kirana & General Store

Choudhary Kirana & General Store is situated right at Khalil K Choraha, near the Bypass Road in Shastri Nagar. It’s a busy spot, especially with the traffic coming off the Nahir K Naka area. We’re at number 168. The dust from the bypass road is a constant battle, so we are always wiping down the biscuit packets and the jars. It's a loud corner because of all the trucks and bikes passing through the junction. We stay open pretty late because people coming home from work often stop by to pick up salt or tea leaves. The shop is full of all sorts of things—shampoo sachets hanging from the ceiling, big tins of ghee, and bags of cattle feed in the back. It’s a bit of a juggle trying to keep everything organized. Sometimes we run out of change, and we have to ask the neighbor shop for some. We don't have a big staff, just family mostly. We’ve seen the bypass road get busier and busier every year, but our store stays pretty much the same. We just focus on keeping the basics in stock. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and lifting heavy crates, but we’re used to it by now. People know us by name, and we know them. That’s how it works at Khalil K Choraha, where we spend our days watching the world go by.
