Chhitarmal Karan Kumar Pansari Kirana & Ganeral Store

Our shop, Chhitarmal Karan Kumar Pansari Kirana & Ganeral Store, is located near Ghantaghar in the Main Market of Paota. This is a traditional pansari shop, so we deal a lot with spices, herbs, and the usual kirana items like pulses and rice. Paota is a small place but the market gets very crowded on weekends. The smell of turmeric and cumin is always strong when you walk in. We have been here for years, and the building itself is quite old. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, and I often have to use a ladder to get things down for customers. It’s a family-run thing, passed down through the generations. People come from the nearby villages in Kotputli to buy their monthly supplies here because they know we keep the traditional stuff. We spend a lot of time weighing out items on the scales. It is not like those modern supermarkets where everything is already packed in plastic. We still wrap things in paper sometimes if that's what is needed. The main market is always loud with the sounds of carts and people talking. It gets quite dusty with all the movement outside, so we are always wiping down the glass jars. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We just write everything down in the ledger. It’s a lot of hard work but we are used to the rhythm of the market now.
