Chaman Lal Kirana Store

We have been here in Kotkhawada for quite a long time now. The shop is right in the Main Market area on Tonk Road, so it stays pretty busy most of the day. It is just a regular kirana store where we keep all the basic things people need for their kitchens like different kinds of dal, rice, and spices. We try to keep the shelves full, though sometimes things get a bit messy when the new stock arrives in the morning. Jaipur gets really hot in the summers, so we usually have the fan running and people stop in just to get a cold bottle of water or some soda. It is a small place, but we know most of the faces that come through the door. Some families have been buying their monthly rations from us for years. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a counter, some wooden shelves, and bags of flour stacked in the corner. If you walk down Tonk Road, you can't miss us because of the crowd that gathers near the entrance in the evenings. We just do our work, weigh the goods, and talk to the neighbors. It is a simple life running a shop here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to manage with a torch, but that is just how things are in the market. We are just glad to be part of this community.
