Central India Tea Co

Our shop, Central India Tea Co, is situated in Indira Bazar, right along Khajnaewalo Ka Rasta. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with people and scooters zig-zagging through the lanes. The first thing you usually notice when you get close is the smell of the raw tea leaves. We have these big burlap sacks lined up against the walls, filled with different grades of tea from various gardens. Most of our day is spent weighing out tea on the old brass scales and scooping it into smaller bags for the customers who walk in. The floor always has a thin layer of tea dust on it, no matter how much we sweep. It is a very old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We have a few wooden benches where regular customers sometimes sit and have a chat while we pack their orders. The light comes in from the front door, and it can get a bit dark in the back where we store the extra stock. We do not use any fancy packaging or have big advertisements in the window. People just know we are here because we have been in the bazar for a long time. It is a noisy place with all the street sounds coming in, but we are used to the shouting and the horns by now. We just focus on keeping the sacks full and the scales balanced for whoever stops by.
