Cafe Castello

Down in Lalkothi, in the Awadhpuri area, you’ll find Cafe Castello. It’s a small place we’ve set up to serve the local neighborhood. Lalkothi is mostly residential and offices, so we get a lot of people who are just looking for a break from their day. The cafe isn't very large, but we’ve tried to make it a place where you can actually hear yourself think. We serve sandwiches, some pasta, and coffee. Nothing too complicated. We do the cooking ourselves in the back. Sometimes the smells from the kitchen fill up the whole room, which I think is a good thing. We don’t have a big corporate backing or anything like that. It’s just a few of us running the show. We’ve had to learn everything as we went along, from fixing the plumbing to figuring out the best bread to use. Awadhpuri is a quiet enough spot compared to the main city markets, which we like. We don't put out a lot of flyers or post constantly online. People usually find us because they live nearby or their friend mentioned they had a decent meal here. We just try to keep the tables clean and the food hot. It’s a basic way to run a cafe, but it’s what we know how to do.
