Bhagchand General Store

Bhagchand General Store sits right at Plot No 1 on New Sanganer Road in the Sodala area. Since we are so close to the Shyam Nagar Metro Station in Tirth Nagar, we get a lot of people just passing through. They usually want something quick like a bottle of water or a pack of biscuits. But we also have the regulars who come from the houses nearby for their full monthly groceries. We have everything from broomsticks to high-quality basmati rice. Jaipur is a fast-growing city but our shop feels like a quiet corner compared to the main road noise. The shelves are made of old wood and we have them filled with jars of candies and rows of shampoo sachets. It is a bit of a squeeze when the morning milk crates arrive. We have to move things around to make room. We don't use any fancy computers to track stuff, we just look at the shelves and see what is missing. It is a very practical way to run a store. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside when it is quiet and watch the metro trains go by. People in Sodala are busy, so we try to be fast when we are bagging up their tea and sugar. It’s not a complicated life here at Tirth Nagar. We just keep the shop open and make sure we have the essentials for whoever stops by.
