Balaji Tea Co

Balaji Tea Co is tucked away in Agarwal Market, 1013 Chandpole Bazar, specifically near Mishra Rajaji Ka Rasta. If you know Chandpole, you know it’s one of the busiest places you can find. There are people everywhere and the sound of rickshaws never stops. Our shop is small and smells like tea leaves all day long. We have bags and containers stacked up high, almost reaching the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze inside sometimes. We spend our time weighing out orders and talking to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. The market can be overwhelming for some, but we’ve gotten used to the chaos. We don't have a big fancy storefront or neon lights. It’s just a simple counter where we do our business. Sometimes we sit on the wooden stools out front when it’s not too busy. We drink a lot of our own tea, naturally. The lighting isn't the best in the back of the shop, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a very traditional way of working. Most of our day is spent chatting with customers and making sure the tea is packed right. We don't use any high-tech systems; just a simple scale and some paper bags. It’s been this way for a long time at this spot in the bazaar. We just keep things moving and hope for a good day.
