Baba General Store

At Baba General Store in Renwal Bhadhal, right by Gangori Chock, things are usually pretty steady. We have got a bit of everything crammed onto the shelves. You will find soap, notebooks, pens, snacks, and whatever else people around here need on a daily basis. It is not organized like those big supermarkets you see in the city. Things are just where they fit. I have been running this place for years, and I know most of the faces that come through the door. We talk about the weather or the price of grain while I bag up their sugar. The shop gets dusty because of the road outside, so I spend a lot of time with a duster, though it does not always help much. Sometimes the fridge for the cold drinks acts up, and I have to give it a little kick to get it humming again. In the evenings, people gather near the chock, and some of them pop in just to say hello or buy a single pen. I do not have a computer system to track everything; I just write things down in a big ledger when I need to. It is a small life but it keeps me busy from morning till night. We might run out of something popular once in a while, but the truck usually comes by in a couple of days to restock. It is just a normal village store doing what it can for the local folks.
