Ashoka Departmental Store

The shop is right in the middle of Nehru Bazar. If you are looking for Ashoka Departmental Store, just head toward the Mayur complex and we are right nearby. It is a busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone is getting off work and heading home. We have been here for a long time, so the shelves are packed with all the things people need. You will find soap, lentils, snacks, and whatever else is on the grocery list. It is quite dusty because of all the people walking through the bazar, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the counters. My father used to run this place and now I am here most of the day. We have a few old wooden stools for when we need to sit down, but usually, we are on our feet helping customers. The noise from the market is constant, with people shouting and bikes honking. It is just part of the atmosphere here. Sometimes the stock does not arrive on time and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. It is a small community inside a big city. We do not have a computer for billing, we just use a notepad and a pen like we always have. It works for us and the customers do not seem to mind at all.
