Ashok Sarees

You can find Ashok Sarees at B 19 on Khajnaewalo Ka Rasta. It’s one of those narrow lanes in Indira Bazar where everyone knows everyone else. We’ve been sitting in this same spot for a long time now. The shop is small, and we have to stack the saree boxes all the way to the ceiling to fit everything in. It's not the kind of place where you’ll find a lot of space to walk around, but we have plenty to look at. We don't bother with fancy displays or professional models. We just show the fabric as it is. Most of our customers are locals who live nearby or families who have been buying from us for generations. They know we aren't going to give them a long sales pitch. We just pull down the boxes, open them up, and let them decide. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep the doors open and use the natural light. It gets hot in the summer, but we have a small cooler that does its best. It’s a simple life running a shop here. We open early, stay late if someone is still looking, and then go home. It’s just a normal business in a busy part of the city. We don't need much else to be happy.
