Arun General Store

Our store is at 3717 Nahargarh Road. It is a typical general store where we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. You will see sacks of flour, bottles of oil, and those small packets of biscuits piled up. The space is a bit tight because we want to make sure we have what people need when they walk in. Often, the boxes from the morning delivery are still sitting in the aisle because we haven't had time to move them yet. It's a busy street, so there is always dust coming in from the door. We spend a lot of time counting change and writing down lists for the next order. The shelves are wooden and probably should have been replaced years ago, but they still hold the weight. We know most of the people who come in since they live just a few houses away. It is mostly regular stuff like soap, pulses, and sugar that moves the fastest. Sometimes we forget where we put a specific item because the piles get so high. My father started this and now I am here most of the day. It is not a supermarket with bright lights and trolleys. It is just a shop where you can get your daily supplies. We stay open until the street goes quiet at night. It's a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors while weighing out lentils or packing bags for everyone who stops by.
