Ahram Plastic

Our shop is Number 6 in Haji Colony, right along the Shastri Nagar Road. Being so close to the Chandpur Metro Station means we hear the trains passing by every few minutes. Ahram Plastic is a small space, so we have to be very careful about how we stack the plastic items so they don't fall over. Most days, the front of the shop is crowded with bags because there just isn't enough room inside. It’s a lively neighborhood, with people constantly walking by on their way to the metro. We spend a lot of time chatting with the other shopkeepers while we wait for deliveries. The floor is just simple cement, and the walls have a few scratches from moving the crates around. We don't have any fancy computers, just a thick notebook where we write down what we sold. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually sit near the door to catch any breeze. Sometimes the kids from the colony come by and we have to tell them not to play too close to the stacks. It’s a simple way of living, just managing the shop and making sure we have what people ask for. When the metro station lights go bright in the evening, we start thinking about pulling down the shutter. It’s just another day on Shastri Nagar Road for us.
