Our place, Agarwal Vinod Shankar, is located at 201 Surajpole in the Laxmi Narayan Puri area. It's a busy part of the city and we are right in the thick of it. We have been here for quite some time now, and we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Our shop is a straightforward kind of place where we keep things simple. We don't have any fancy decorations or a big corporate lobby. It’s mostly just us, our stock, and the customers who have been coming to us for years. Every morning we open the shutters and sweep the front of the shop. Surajpole is a lively area so there is always someone to talk to or something happening on the street. We spend our day managing the inventory and talking to the people who stop by. Sometimes the weather is hot and we just sit under the fan waiting for the next person to walk in. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just run our business and try to keep things moving along. Laxmi Narayan Puri is a place where everyone knows everyone, so we spend a lot of time just catching up with the neighbors. It's a steady life and we appreciate the people who continue to drop by our spot at 201 Surajpole. We stay open quite late most nights and the lights from the shop shine out onto the pavement. It’s a good way to stay connected to the community and we really enjoy being a part of this daily bustle.
