Agarwal Tea Centre

We are sitting right in the middle of the chaos at 182 Chandpole Bazar. If you know the old city, you know how busy it gets with the rickshaws and the crowds of shoppers. Our shop is small but it is always packed with the smell of dry tea leaves. We have big sacks of tea piled up and smaller packets ready to go. People come in all day long, some just for a small bag and others who own hotels or cafes. We have been at this spot for a long time and the building shows its age. The walls are a bit worn and the wooden counters have seen better days. We spend a lot of time weighing out the tea on the scales and sealing up the bags. It is a simple business. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Just the tea and the customers we have known for years. Sometimes the traffic in Chandpole is so bad that the delivery trucks can't even get close, so we have to carry the heavy bags by hand. It is hard work but we are used to it by now. The tea dust gets on everything, including our clothes. We keep a small stove in the back to make a cup for ourselves now and then. It is a noisy, busy place but it is our home. We just keep serving the same tea every single day.
