Agarwal Kirana & Genral Store

Running Agarwal Kirana & Genral Store in Jagdamba Colony is basically my whole life. We are tucked away in the Ambabari area near Naya Kheda. Jaipur gets really dry and dusty, so I am always wiping down the glass jars on the front counter. Most of the people who come in live right here in Vidhyadhar Nagar, so I know most of their names and what they usually buy. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main city markets, but we stay steady. We sell things like flour, spices, and whatever else people need for their daily cooking. The shop isn't very large, and sometimes it's hard to move around when we get a big delivery of rice sacks. I usually have the radio playing softly in the corner to pass the time between customers. There isn't any corporate structure here, just me and my family members taking turns behind the register. We don't have a delivery van or anything like that, so people just walk over from their houses. Sometimes a customer will stay and talk for twenty minutes about the weather or the local news. It makes the day go by faster. The shelves are a bit mismatched because we added them at different times over the years. It isn't a perfect setup, but it works for us and for the people living in Jagdamba Colony who need a quick loaf of bread or some sugar.
