Agarwal Hardware & Tools is located at number 32 on VKIA Road Number 9. This is a real industrial area, so there are trucks everywhere and a lot of noise. Nuts, bolts, saws, and all kinds of hardware stuff are what we deal with. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling and sometimes finding the ladder is the hardest part of the morning. Opening early is a necessity because the workers in the area need things before their shifts start. It’s usually dusty in here because of the road traffic. A small counter is where we talk to people and write down what they need. Sometimes someone comes in looking for a specific bolt that doesn't even exist anymore. Finding something that will work for them is the goal. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and re-stocking the bins when they get low. No fancy computer system does everything for us, so plenty of paper still gets used. Hands are usually a bit greasy by the time evening rolls around. Nobody minds it much. It’s just how hardware stores are supposed to be, I think. Having some tea in the afternoon and listening to the radio makes the day go by faster. It’s not a glamorous place but the stock covers what people need for their projects. We just stay busy and try to help out whoever walks through the door.
