I am located at 601 Ramganj Bazar, right in the Mohalla Goriyan area of Bas Badanpura. It is a very old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always full of people. My place is just a small space where I handle my daily work. Abdul Mazid is the name on the papers, but most people around here just know me by sight. It gets very crowded during the market hours. You can hear the scooters and the vendors shouting all day long. Inside, it is a bit quieter, but not by much. I’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. The building is old, with thick walls and small doors. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just wait it out. There is always someone dropping by to chat or ask about something. It’s not a formal business setting at all. We just sit on the floor or on small stools and get things done. The smell of the market, the spices and the dust, is always there. It’s a simple life in Ramganj Bazar. I don’t have a big team or any complicated machines. Just me and a couple of others doing what needs to be done. We take things as they come. Being in Bas Badanpura means you are always part of the neighborhood bustle, and that’s just fine for us. We drink a lot of water in the summer.
