We are located in the Akhilalaya Apartment building in Napier Town. It is a bit of a different spot because it’s part of a residential area, but being near Shashtri Bridge helps people find us. Jabalpur can be quite busy, but Napier Town has its own pace. The shop is on the ground level, so it’s easy to step inside from the street. It feels more like a house than a big corporate office, which I think people like. We have curtains on the windows and some plants that I try to keep alive, though I forget to water them sometimes. Every morning, I unlock the door and check if we have enough shampoo and supplies for the day. People usually call ahead, but some just walk in if they are passing by the bridge. The apartment residents often stop by to chat even if they don't need anything done. It is a relaxed atmosphere where the fans are always spinning to keep the Jabalpur heat away. We have different sections for hair and beauty, but it all flows together in one big room. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids run past the door, and you can hear the traffic from Shashtri Bridge in the background. It is just our daily routine here, keeping the place running and making sure the floor is swept before we head home at night to our own families.
