Rashid Hair Dresser

Rashid Hair Dresser is tucked away in Street No 6 of Sadar Bazar here in Jabalpur. This is a very old part of town, so the streets are a bit of a maze if you aren't from around here. I’ve been working in this shop since I was a young man. It’s a small place, just enough room for a couple of chairs and a shelf for my combs and scissors. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Most of my customers are people who work in the market nearby or families who have lived in Sadar Bazar for generations. We talk about the weather or how the local cricket team is doing. I don't use any fancy electric gadgets, just my hands and some good quality tools. The shop gets a bit dark in the evenings, so I have a couple of bright bulbs to help me see what I'm doing. It’s a quiet life, mostly. I like the routine of opening up the shutters every morning and seeing the street wake up. People stop by to say hello even if they aren't getting a haircut. It’s a community shop, really. If you're looking for something basic and honest, I’m usually here every day except for religious holidays. I hope to keep serving the people of Jabalpur for many more years.
