R. Bricks

You can find our yard over on Gupteswar Road at Plot 1646/47. We are right near the Adarsh Kala Niketan, which is a big help when people are trying to find us for the first time. We spend most of our time out in the sun moving bricks around. It is heavy, tiring work but that is just the nature of the business. The crew here has been together for a while now and we have a good rhythm going. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. If you walk by, you will see the tall stacks of bricks waiting for the delivery trucks. We don't have a website or fancy brochures to show people. Mostly, they just stop their motorbikes or trucks at the gate and ask what we have in stock. Sometimes the road gets really crowded when the school nearby is letting out, so we have to be careful with the big lorries coming in. We handle all the loading by hand or with a small lift. It’s a basic operation and we like it that way. We keep the orders written down on a clipboard in the little shed near the entrance. Sometimes a batch doesn't come out quite right or we run low on materials, so we just tell people they have to wait a bit. It’s just how things go. We’re glad to be part of the local community. It keeps us busy and we like the work.
