A. V. Bricks

A. V. Bricks is located on Plot No.1052/1 in the Hathi Tal Colony. We are right near Mgm School, so we hear the school bell and the kids playing every day. It’s a local operation, and we’ve got the bricks stacked up on the plot for everyone to see. We spend most of our time out in the open air, moving the bricks around and loading up the trolleys. It’s hard on the back, but we’re used to it. The dust from the bricks gets on everything, including our clothes and the small shed we use for shade. We don’t have any high-tech equipment, just the basic tools and our hands. People from the colony come by when they’re doing repairs on their houses. We don’t really do any fancy marketing; our bricks being there on the plot is our only sign. Sometimes the rain makes the ground muddy and we have to be careful not to get the trucks stuck. It’s just a normal, everyday business. We start early before it gets too hot and try to finish up by late afternoon. Being near the school makes it feel like part of the community. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs to be done. It's not glamorous, but it is what we know how to do best here in Hathi Tal.
