Mateshwari Saundarya

Our shop, Mateshwari Saundarya, is tucked away in Bargi Basti in Jabalpur. We are in Ward No.15 and happen to be quite near the Pf Police Station. This makes our corner of the neighborhood feel safe and quiet most of the time. We mainly sell beauty products, cosmetics, and other daily necessities that the local families might need. It is not a fancy boutique, just a small local shop with a counter and some glass cases. We have been in Bargi for many years and have seen the area change quite a bit. Many of our customers are women from the Basti who come in to look at bangles or find a specific hair oil. Sometimes business is slow, especially in the hot afternoons when everyone stays indoors to escape the sun. During those times, we just sit and wait or organize the stock on the shelves. My brother helps out when I am away getting new supplies from the city. We don't have any big advertisements or a website. People just know where we are by word of mouth. It is a very basic setup, and we like it that way. We spend our days talking to the regulars and hearing about what is happening in the neighborhood. It is a decent way to earn a living without too much stress. We are just a part of the local community here.
