Arya Mens Parlour

This parlour is situated on Station Road in Madan Mahal. Since it's Jabalpur, things are usually a bit relaxed, but Station Road is always moving. I set this up because I knew people coming from the trains or living nearby needed a place for a quick fix. We do haircuts and shaves for men. The shop is small and a bit old-fashioned. I have these big heavy chairs that have been here since the start. They are solid. I don't like the new plastic ones they sell now. We use traditional razors and keep them sharp. My brother helps me on the weekends when the rush is too much. We don't have air conditioning, just two big ceiling fans that hum all day. The walls have some old posters that have faded over time. I haven't bothered to change them. Most customers are regulars from the neighborhood or people who work at the station. They like that we are fast and don't talk too much unless they want to. It’s a honest way to earn a living. We don't do any of that fancy spa stuff. Just a proper haircut and a clean shave. That is what a man needs. If you are near Madan Mahal, you can see our board from the street. I keep a radio on the shelf that plays old songs. It helps drown out the train whistles. Sometimes the dust from the road gets everywhere, so we wipe everything twice a day.
