Toolika Beauty Saloon

This little salon is tucked away at 5 MIG Road in Patni Pura. If you know the Patnipura Chauraha, you know it gets pretty hectic with all the traffic. We are right there in the J J Ram Nagar area. Toolika Beauty Saloon isn't one of those places with a glass front and a fancy receptionist. It’s usually just us working on whatever needs doing. We get a lot of women from the nearby houses coming in for threading or just to get their hair handled before a family function. The room is painted a simple color, and we have our mirrors set up where the light is best. Sometimes the ceiling fan squeaks a little, but it keeps the Indore heat away, so nobody complains. We spend most of our time chatting about local news or what’s on sale at the market nearby. It’s a very neighborhood kind of feel. You walk in, say hello, and wait your turn on the bench. I’ve always preferred it this way. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We don’t use any of those high-end words for what we do. If you need your hair cut or some basic work done, we do it. The neighborhood has changed over the years, but Patni Pura still feels like home to us. We’re just glad to be a small part of the daily routine for the folks living around MIG Road in Indore.
