Shree Maan Hair Salon

Our place is on the main Kanadia Road in Indore, number 23. Being near the Jain Mandir means we get a mix of people coming through. Some stop by after their morning prayers and others come in when they are done with work in the evening. The shop isn't huge, but it fits what we need. I spend a lot of time sharpening the razors and making sure the water spray bottles are full. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so there is a lot of sweeping involved throughout the day. We have a couple of benches for people to sit on while they wait. Usually, there is someone talking about the cricket score or the local news. It’s a steady kind of life here. We see the same faces every few weeks, which is nice. Sometimes kids come in and they are a bit fidgety in the big chairs, so we have to be careful. The afternoon sun hits the front window, so we usually pull the curtain a bit to keep it cool inside. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the shears and the combs. It’s a job that keeps your hands busy. We don’t use any loud music, just the sound of the street and the clippers. It’s been this way for a long time on this road, and we just keep at it day after day.
