Our business, Ramesh Kumar & Bros., is set up at Plot No 1, Daulatganj, Hathipala, right in the heart of the trade area. This place has been in the family for a long time, and you can tell by looking at the building. It’s an old structure that has seen better days, but it serves our purpose just fine. Being at Plot No 1 makes it sound like we have a lot of space, but it’s actually quite packed with all the stuff we carry. We are two brothers and a few helpers running the show here. Sometimes we argue about where things should go or how to handle a shipment, but that’s just how it is when you work with family every day. Daulatganj is a very traditional market area, so things move at their own pace. We have a lot of old customers who just stop by for a chat even if they don't need to buy anything that day. We don't have a computer system; everything is still written down in big ledgers by hand. It might seem slow to some people, but it works for us and we haven't changed it yet. The streets in Hathipala are narrow and get blocked very easily, so we have to time our deliveries carefully. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We just try to keep things honest and do our work without making a fuss.
