Shastri Market is a noisy place, but it has a good energy to it. We have been selling machinery parts and bits of hardware here for quite a while. The shop floor is usually covered in a thin layer of oil because that is just the nature of the business. We keep our stock on these heavy metal shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a climb to get something from the top rack. Customers usually come in with a specific part in their hand, looking for a replacement. We spend a lot of time digging through boxes to find exactly what they need. It is not the kind of place where you’ll find air conditioning or soft chairs. We have a couple of stools and a counter that has been scratched up over the years. The weather gets quite hot in the summer, and the tin roof doesn't help much, but we have a few old fans that do the job. We know most of the other shop owners around the railway line. We share tea and talk about the day's business. It is a straightforward way to make a living, and we don't try to make it seem like anything else.
