Down at No. 30-B in the Industrial Area on Sanwer Road, you’ll find us at Orient Wire Ropes. We are tucked away near Gaurav Restaurant, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us for the first time. The industrial area is always a bit noisy and greasy, which is exactly how a wire rope business should be, I suppose. We spend our days surrounded by heavy spools of steel cable and the sound of machinery. It’s not the cleanest job in the world—your clothes usually end up with a bit of oil or metallic dust by the end of the shift. We mostly focus on the technical side of things, making sure the ropes are wound right and the measurements are exact. Lunch usually happens at Gaurav’s or we bring something from home and eat quickly before getting back to the floor. It’s a practical environment where we don’t worry much about how things look as long as the ropes are solid and ready for the customers who need them. The machines need a lot of looking after, and there’s always something that needs a bit of grease or a quick fix. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time, and we know most of the other shop owners on this stretch of Sanwer Road. It’s a hard-working part of town, and we fit right in with the rest of the factories and workshops around here, just doing what we know best.
