If you know Bhawar Kuan in Indore, you know how busy A.B. Road stays. Our shop is right there at Shop No-10, directly in front of the Pulish Thana. Having the police station right across from us makes the area feel a bit different, maybe a bit more orderly than other parts of town. There’s always a lot of students coming by because of all the coaching centers and hostels nearby. They usually want something quick and cheap before they head back to their classes. The noise from the trucks and buses on A.B. Road never really stops, so we usually have the radio playing to drown it out a bit. The interior is simple, with some tiled floors that we try to keep white despite all the foot traffic. We have a couple of chairs that have seen better days, but they still work fine for a haircut. It’s not a place where you come for luxury. It’s a place where you come because you’re in the neighborhood and you need to get your hair sorted out. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings over snacks, and we sit for five minutes when there’s no one in the chair. It’s just a regular part of life on this busy stretch of road. We don't have a lot of space for waiting, so people often stand outside on the sidewalk until it's their turn.
