Dilkhush Hair Salon is tucked away at 54, Imali Bazar on Subhash Marg in Indore. This part of town is always noisy and full of life. We’ve been at this address for a long time. The shop is small and has that old-school smell of talcum powder and aftershave. We have a few old chairs that have seen better days but are still comfortable. It’s mostly men from the market who come in for a quick shave or a haircut before they start their day. We keep the fans running high because Indore gets quite hot. There is always a newspaper sitting on the bench for whoever is waiting. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. My father started this and now I run it with my cousin. We don't do anything too modern, just the standard cuts that people have asked for for decades. It's a simple routine. We open early and close when the street gets quiet at night. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings us a cup while we work. It’s a good way to spend the day, chatting with neighbors and keeping the clippers moving. If you find yourself near Subhash Marg, you’ll see our blue door. It’s nothing special to look at, but we do the job right and don't charge too much money.
