Woodnote Resort

Woodnote Resort sits on Thamarakandam Road in Thekkady, right in the Kumily area of Kerala. It’s a green part of the world, so we deal with a lot of trees and occasionally some rain that doesn't seem to stop. Running a resort isn't just about the guests; it’s about making sure the plumbing works and the kitchen has enough supplies. We have a staff that stays on the grounds or lives nearby. Early mornings are usually the busiest because that is when everyone wants their coffee and is headed out to see the wildlife. The building is tucked away from the main noise of the town, which is nice. We spend a lot of time cleaning rooms and making sure the garden doesn't get overgrown. It’s a constant job. We don’t have some big corporate office in a city. Everything happens right here on the property. Sometimes a guest gets lost finding the road because the signs can be a bit small, but we usually guide them in over the phone. It’s a relaxed pace compared to a city, but there is always something that needs fixing, like a lightbulb or a leaky tap. We try to keep things simple for the people who stay with us. It’s a lot of work behind the scenes that nobody really sees, but that’s just the hospitality business for you.
