Thekkady Wild Corridor

Up here in Murikkady, things move a lot slower than they do in the big cities. Thekkady Wild Corridor is located just a bit away from Kumily town. We are surrounded by a lot of green trees and spice plants, which makes the air smell pretty good after it rains. I work here helping out with whatever needs doing, whether it is fixing a leaky tap or showing someone the way to the forest path. It is very quiet at night, sometimes so quiet it feels a bit strange if you are used to the city. We have a few rooms for people who want to see the wildlife or just sit and look at the hills. Getting supplies can be a bit of a trip because we have to head down to the Po Kumily area for most things. The roads are curvy and sometimes the mist is so thick you can’t see the front of your car. We don't have a lot of fancy entertainment here, just the nature and the birds. I spend many afternoons just waiting for the next guest to arrive and making sure the blankets are clean. It gets cold in the winters, so we keep a lot of tea ready. People come here to get away from everything, and mostly, they just want to be left alone to enjoy the peace. It’s a simple way to live.
