Well Fit Tailors

Well Fit Tailors has been here on Shanker Veedhi for quite a while now. We are located right at the back side of the Green Hotel, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us. The shop is small and usually smells like steam from the heavy irons we use. There are rolls of fabric leaning in every corner and scraps of colorful cloth all over the floor by the end of the day. We have a few old sewing machines that have been running for years; they have a very specific clacking sound that we don't even notice anymore. It’s a busy little street, and people often pop their heads in to ask how much longer their trousers or shirts will take. We don't use fancy computer programs to measure people; it’s just the old-fashioned yellow measuring tape around the neck. Sometimes we have so much work that the finished clothes are hanging from every available hook on the walls. It’s a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. The light isn't the best in the back, so we do the cutting near the front door where the sun comes in. We just work from morning until late evening, stitching and fixing things. It’s honest work and we’ve lived in this neighborhood long enough to know everyone’s name. It's just a simple tailor shop for local people.
