Down at D-146 in Phase-3 of Ida, Jeedimetla, you’ll find us working away at Uttam Garments Pvt. Ltd. This part of the industrial area is always humming with noise. We’ve got sewing machines running and people moving rolls of fabric around all day long. It isn't a quiet place by any means. We started this because we knew a bit about clothes and wanted to make a go of it here in Hyderabad. Some days the heat in the workshop is a lot, but we keep the fans going and get through the batches. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or making the front office look perfect. Most of our focus is on the stacks of shirts or whatever we are stitching that week. It's honest work. The workers here talk about their families while they work, and we share lunch in the little corner we cleared out. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to scramble to fix it, which is always a headache, but that’s part of the trade. Living and working in Jeedimetla means you get used to the traffic and the grit. We’ve been in this building for a long time now. It’s got a few cracks in the walls and the paint is peeling a bit, but it’s where we do our best. We aren't trying to be some giant global brand, just a solid local outfit making garments that people actually need to wear.
