Our shop is at 15/B in the S.V. Co-Operative Industrial Estate. Jeedi Metla is one of those industrial areas that never really seems to sleep. We are tucked away in a corner of the estate at Transvalves (India). Our workshop is usually full of metal shavings and the sharp smell of cutting oil. It is an old-school engineering setup through and through. We make valves, which might sound simple to some, but there is a lot of grinding and pressure testing involved in the process. The floor is always a bit slippery, so you have to watch where you step when you walk through. We do not have a big marketing team or anyone wearing fancy suits. Most of us are just in work shirts with grease on the sleeves. The office is a tiny room with a couple of old filing cabinets and a desk that has seen much better days. We spend a lot of time checking the sizes of metal parts with calipers and making sure everything fits together perfectly. Sometimes a batch does not turn out right and we have to start over from scratch, which is frustrating, but that is just part of the job. The local tea guy comes by twice a day on his bicycle, and that is when everyone takes a break. It is a noisy, hot, and busy place. We have been at this address for a while and the neighbors are all similar workshops.
