St Joseph High School

Our school is on Empress Road in the Trimulgherry area of Hyderabad. This part of the city has a lot of history, and you can see it in some of the older buildings around us. The traffic on Empress Road is something we have to deal with every single day, especially when the morning bell is about to ring. The building itself is quite sturdy and has been here for a long time, so it has that old-school feel with tall windows and thick walls. Inside, the noise of the city fades a little bit, but you still hear the occasional horn from outside. We have a small playground where the kids spend their breaks, and it is usually quite a scramble when they all go out at once. Our office is on the ground floor, and it is almost always busy with people coming in to talk about one thing or another. We keep a lot of records in old metal cabinets, and there is always a pile of registers waiting to be signed. The teachers are mostly local people who have been working in Hyderabad for years. We don't use any fancy language or try to sound bigger than we are. It’s just a school in 500015 where we try to teach the kids their lessons and make sure they get home safely. Most days end with us just tidying up the classrooms and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow. It’s a routine we have grown very comfortable with.
