You can find our place at House No 5-6-36/284 in the Housing Board Colony of Moula Ali. We are a bit different because we have both medicines and regular kirana items. It can get a bit confusing for some people, but it works for us. One side has the glass cabinets with the strips of tablets and syrups, and the other side has the sacks of flour and jars of snacks. The Housing Board Colony is a big area, so we get a lot of families coming in. Some need their medicine and some just need a loaf of bread. I spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the medicine boxes and then switching to weighing out lentils. It is a lot of standing around, and the fan on the ceiling doesn't always reach the back of the shop. We have a small TV in the corner that we keep on for the news, but mostly it is just the sound of the fridge humming. We don't have any big signs or posters. People just know us as the local spot for their daily needs. Sometimes the distributors are late with the supplies, especially when it rains in Hyderabad, and the shop feels a bit empty. We just do what we can to help the people who live around here. It is a decent way to spend the day, and we know most people by their first names.
