Royal Grand Hotel

People always ask why we stayed right here across from the Nampally railway station. It gets noisy with the trains and the crowds, but that is just how things are in this part of town. Our address is 5-8-230/4 and it is a busy spot. We see travelers coming in all hours of the night with heavy bags. Some are just looking for a place to put their head down for a few hours before catching the next express. The building itself has been around for a while. We spend a lot of time fixing small things like leaky taps or creaky doors. It keeps us busy. My cousin helps out at the front desk most mornings when the early trains arrive. We don't have fancy stuff here, just rooms with beds and fans. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to mess with the generator. Outside, the street is always full of rickshaws and tea stalls. You can hear the chai wallahs shouting from the lobby if the door stays open too long. It is a bit of a maze inside with the hallways, but we know where everything is. We just try to keep the floors swept and the linens changed for the next person. It is not much, but it is what we do every day. The station clock is always visible if you stand near the front entrance. We get a lot of dust from the road so the cleaning never really ends.
