Prerana Waldorf School

Up in Janardhan Hills, specifically at Plot No 47/9 in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, you will find Prerana Waldorf School. Gachibowli is a busy area, but being up in the hills gives us a slightly different feel. The school building isn't a modern high-rise like the ones you see in the rest of Hyderabad. It is a bit more spread out and has a lot of natural light. We do not use a lot of plastic or flashy stuff here. The rooms are full of wooden toys, beeswax crayons, and paintings the children have made. It is a bit messy sometimes, with art supplies on the tables and mud on the floor if it has been raining. The teachers here do not just stand at the front and talk; they are usually right in the middle of things with the students. We follow a specific way of doing things, but it is all very practical and hands-on. There is a lot of singing and movement you can hear coming from the windows throughout the day. The garden is a big part of the place, and it is not perfectly manicured—it is a working space where kids dig and plant things. We are not a big corporate entity. It is just a group of people in the 500032 area who wanted a different kind of school for their kids. It feels more like a community center than a formal institution, and that is how we like it.
